Lt. Robert May

Lt. May is currently a supervisor in the sheriff’s office Traffic Safety Unit. After graduating The Citadel in 2008, Lt. May began his career with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, starting out on uniform patrol. He found his passion in training new deputies, which eventually earned him the rank of Master Deputy in his division. After serving in that capacity, Lt. May was promoted to his current rank and was made responsible for supervising numerous patrol deputies.

Lt. May transferred to the Traffic Safety Unit in 2021 and now oversees six deputies focused on improving road safety through enforcement and education. He also holds multiple instructor certifications from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, allowing him to train and certify deputies within the sheriff’s office.
