At the Greenville County Sheriff’s Foundation, we are a dedicated group of individuals committed to strengthening the safety and security of our community. We work hand-in-hand with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office to ensure that our local law enforcement has the critical resources and support they need to protect and serve effectively.
We believe in the power of community and collaboration. Through generous donations, fundraising efforts, and partnerships with local businesses and individuals, we bridge the gap between what is provided by traditional law enforcement budgets and the urgent needs of our deputies in the field.
Our mission is simple: to equip, support, and honor the men and women of the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office who put their lives on the line every day. From funding advanced training and specialized units like SWAT, K9, and Search and Rescue, to providing essential equipment that enhances deputy safety and effectiveness, we are committed to ensuring that our deputies are prepared for every situation.
Together, with the unwavering support of our community, we aim to create a safer, stronger Greenville County for all.
Every day, Greenville County’s deputies put on a uniform and go to work protecting people they’ve never met — often for wages well below what the same skills, risk, and responsibility would command in the private sector. They accept that trade-off because they believe in the job.
But college tuition doesn’t offer a public-service discount. A deputy’s child pays the same price for a semester as anyone else’s, on a household budget built around a civil servant’s salary.
The Scholarship Fund exists to close that gap. Through the generosity of donors across Greenville County, we award scholarships directly to the sons and daughters of our deputies — helping make higher education achievable for families who have already given so much to keep the rest of us safe.
When you give to the Scholarship Fund, you’re not just writing a check. You’re telling a deputy’s kid that their parent’s service means something to this community — and that their future matters to us too.

¹ In 1984, Sheriff Johnny Mack Brown founded the Scholarship Fund by asking 100 people to each donate $100 — a tradition of community generosity that continues to this day. That simple idea, repeated year after year, has grown into the Scholarship Fund that still helps deputies’ children afford college today.
